Description

IMPORTANT: This is highly outdated and is being reworked. Please do not use this as a reference.

edit2: forgot to add information about the long and skinny pteranosimian next to the seadon, the stilt wings

edit: Made the description more readable

HERE'S the most recent modern pterosauria lineup (with Pteranodon longiceps and Quetzalcoatlus northropi for comparison). I'll probably add more as I sketch up new groups, but for now this is the bulk of what I have. I'll have to go back and add the primitive external ears that I gave the Pteranosimians as well (and remove the ones on the other pterosaurs).

From left to right:
Pteranodon longiceps (extinct ancestor of Post-Pteranodont Pteropelagia (seadonts) and Pteranosimia (pteranosimians).

Osvescerdactylus oceanus (Whalebone eater) representing the primitive pteranosimian clad Pterosvescoria, a group of pterosaurs adapted to feeding on bones (only living member).

Wapitimimus gracilis (Elk pterosaur) representing the clad Unguldactylia, the main group of post-tapejarids adapted to running and fill a similar niche to that of Ungulates. All are herbivorous)

Quetzalcoatlus northropi (extinct stem species of post-azhdarchids Titanodarchids (Titanodactyls), Iaculumarchids (Theropod stalkers or harpoon beaks), and Trochilidarchids (humming pterosaurs).

Trochilimimus major (Giant Hummerdactyl) representing the Trochilidarchids, a small clad of post-azhdarchids filling the niche of humming birds in the eastern hemisphere (hummingbirds live in the western hemisphere).

Homo sapiens (human, not a pterosaur)

Homopteranus unlikelus (Humadon) representing the pteranosimian subclad Pteranosapienia, or great pteranosimians. They are the equivalent of the mammalian hominids.

Marerostrolus magnificens (Great seadon) representing the post-pteranodont clad Pteropelagia, a group of pterosaurs adapted to life at sea.

Recurvirostramimus tricolor (Red banded stiltwing) representing the primitive pteranosimian clad Tenuicornudae, the stilt wings. These pteranosimians behave similarly to stilts and avocets but don't generally compete with them due to different habitat preferences (stilts and avocets inhabit beaches and coasts while stilt wings prefer inland wetlands/waterways).

Sauromimus longdactylus (Heavy billed titanodactyl) representing the post-azhdarchid clad Titanodarchids, a group of pterosaurs that replaced the mostly gone sauropods.

Pteranoraptor Harpyja (Harpy pteraneagle) representing the pteranosimian clad Pteroraptoria, vicious pteranosimians adapted to hunting other pteranosimians (and anything else they can catch).

Rhamphastamimus sam
(toucan like monkydactyl) representing the pteranosimian clad Simiadactylia, or "monkey" pteranosimians. likewise, they fill the niche of monkeys, and behave like a cross between monkeys and toucans/parrots.

Draconihomicida imperialis (greater spearbeak) representing the post-azhdarchid clad Iaculumarchids, violent apex predators that feed almost exclusively on theropods and their kills, killing via impaling prey through the heart with their bills and then prying the ribs apart with a beak built to be more powerful opening than closing.

Gorrilladactylus koko (gorriladon) representing the pteranosimian subclad Apedactylia, or "ape" pteranosimians. unlike the "monkey" and "hominid" pteranosimians, these giant pterosaurs have lost the ability of power flight and rely more on their brute strength to hunt/defend themselves. unlike great apes, "ape" pteranosimians are predominently carnivorous, although there are herbavorous species. all are at least omnivorous and most are highly social creatures.

Boy that was a mouth full. Anyways, comments/concerns are very much appreciated, I would very much like to discuss these. Suggestions? Better names? Criticisms? I'd love to hear them!

For curiousity's sake, what's the pterosaur next to the seadon that is very thin and has a long slender bill? I can't seem to find its description...
