Not that I haven't been already :P I'll admit, most of it has been spent dinking around on Minecraft or Terraria... more Terraria actually. I love Terraria WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more than Minecraft... sorry, but without mods, it feels EXTREMELY repetitive with no real gain IMO. anyways, after making the sprite for the True Destroyer I came up with a bunch of other stuff that could go along with it and the true mechanical BoC, although I changed the name to the Cthulhu Cortex/True Cthulhu Cortex. I plan on working on this for a little bit, making the sprites and whatnot. here's what I though of so far;

The item that summons the "True" bosses is called the Mysterious Device. it can only be crafted once per world, by combining one of EACH boss summoning item (which requires having a world of each type to get crimson/corruption exclusive items)(this excludes the Goblin Battle Standard, Snow Globe, Pirate Map, Pumpkin Moon Medallion, and Naughty presents, these summon events, not bosses directly), a temple key (Plantera bulbs are uncollectible) and a new item called the Strange Cog, which drops from another new boss, the Iron Curtain (mechanical WoF) once. It can only be used after every boss, mini boss, and special event has been defeated/fought(you don't necessarily have to make it to the end of pumpkin moons or frost moons, you just have to fight in them). after that, it can be used anywhere, anytime, and the true boss will come tearing out of the ground. while most bosses when they spawn get a message saying "<name of boss> has awoken!", you first get a message saying "What have you done...", then another one 20 seconds later saying "The True Destroyer/Cthulhu Cortex has risen!". At first after using the item and getting the first message, nothing seems to happen. five seconds in, the ground begins to shake, increasing in intensity untill the boss itself emerges. It will always spawn beneath you, and it will hurl you into the air when it emerges, so always have something equipped or a potion/item handy that negates fall damage.

unlike the basic mechanical bosses, who just explode all at once when they die, the "true" bosses explode violently, screaming in anger. the explosions inflict damage, so it's best to avoid them (if you can). explosions do base 100 damage. lasts about 20 seconds, descends down entire body. damages any nearby entities as well.

You can only craft the summoning items once per world, but the "True" bosses will actually spawn naturally after that. the message when they spawn naturally will say "The True Destroyer/Cthulhu Cortex seeks vengeance!" technically, these bosses are essentially immortal, and don't actually die when you defeat them. you can only drive them back.

I advise against using any medium or hardcore characters, as you are most likely going to die during this fight. A lot. and these bosses don't despawn when you die, so you can get stuck in an infinite loop with medium-core characters and "loose" with hardcore characters.

after killing the "true" boss of the world the first time, all prehardmode enemies become as powerful as hardmode enemies. It does, however makes the spreading biomes revert back to their prehardmode behavior.

other ideas I've had:

ENTITIES
<NPCs>
:bulletblack: Zombie Gentleman: new male zombie NPC. sells "undead" based items, pays extra for undead based items that he does not sell (plan on this for all NPCs, like the painter paying extra for crafted paints or random paintings, dye trader for dye items/materials, etc). arrives after the player experiences their first blood moon
:bulletpurple: Alchemist: new female NPC. sells potion items that are used to enhance regular potions. Also sells Brewing kit, used for advanced potion crafting. arrives after Golem is defeated

<monsters>
:bulletyellow: giant scorpion: (prehardmode) rare spawn, normal fighter AI aside from jabbing it's stinger at the player. drops scorpion claw. doesn't hurt regular scorpions.
:bulletgreen: Green mamba: (prehardmode) spawns in jungles, is stationary until the player approaches it, where it strikes (has a short range though, and doesn't leave it's spot)
:bulletyellow: rattlesnake: (prehardmode) desert equivalent of green mamba, slightly weaker
:bulletyellow: coyote: (prehardmode) spawns at night, fast speed, follows unicorn AI. smaller than a wolf, more susceptible to knock back
:bulletred: Cerebellum: (hardmode) equivalent of the devourers, resembles a smaller but "gorier" BoC. drops ichor, behaves similar to wraiths
:bulletgreen: jungle raptor: (hardmode) extremely rare in jungle biomes. unicorn AI, extremely fast speed. can jump extremely high. inflicts bleeding, can drop raptor sickle or bandage
:bulletgreen: crocodile: (hardmode) spawns on surface jungle pools, remains motionless until player gets close. lunges forward when player is 4-7 blocks close. can run on land. drops reptile teeth

<bosses>
:bulletred: Cthulhu Cortex: hardmode equivalent of the BoC, actually quite important as there is a "true" version of it later on. summons probes, the same ones the destroyer spawns, only all come out at one time in the same manner as BoC creepers
:bulletred: Iron Curtain: hardmode version of WoF. unlike the WoF, does not cause game mode to change, but it does drop a key component to crafting the summoning items for the "True" bosses (strange cog). however, only drops this the first time you fight it.

new items:
<purchase>
from Zombie Gentleman:
:bulletblack: zombie mask: vanity item
:bulletblack: zombie shirt: vanity item
:bulletblack: zombie pants: vanity item
:bulletblack: zombie scent: makes undead enemies neutral towards you. five minute duration
:bulletblack: bone arrows: same type the marrow transformed arrows, however, inflicts weakness to enemies, like how crafted frost arrows inflict frostburn whereas Icebow frost arrows do not. bone arrows can also be crafted at a mythril/orichalum anvil with regular arrows, bones, and reptile teeth. five arrows, one bone and one reptile tooth, output five. same damage and velocity as ones shot by the marrow.
:bulletblack: sample of undead: material, used to create undead bullets (after defeating wall of flesh)
:bulletblack: staff of undead: (after Plantera is defeated) summons zombies to fight for you (up to six). 55 base damage
from alchemist:
:bulletpurple: brewing kit: crafting station for advanced alchemy
:bulletpurple: bear claw: only used with 2 hunter potions to make assassin potion
:bulletpurple: bull thistle: can be placed, but causes damage on contact (5 damage) or can be used with 2 thorns potions to make barbed potion
:bulletpurple: bull's eye: can be eaten but causes weakness for 30 seconds, or can be used with 2 archery potions to make ranger potion
:bulletpurple: starfruit: can be eaten for well fed for 5 minutes, or used with magic power and mana regeneration potion to make mana power potion
:bulletpurple: flask of helium: can be inhaled for humorous effects for 5 minutes, or used with 2 featherfall potions to make plumefall potion
:bulletpurple: dolomite shard: can be placed (doesn't do anything) or can be used with 2 obsidian skin potions to make dolomite potion
:bulletpurple: nightshade berries: can be eaten but causes poisoned for 1 minute, or can be used with 2 battle potions to make war potion
:bulletpurple: dragon scales: only used with 2 ironskin potions to make dragonscale potion
:bulletpurple: gillyweed: can be placed in water (doesn't do anything) or used with 2 gills potions to make gillyweed potion (Harry Potter reference, there need to be more of these)
:bulletpurple: moon rock: can be placed (provides light) or can be used with 2 featherfall potions to make plumefall potion
:bulletpurple: flatworm extract: only used with 2 regen potions to make greater regen potion
:bulletpurple: water strider leg: only used with 2 water walking potions to make greater WWP
:bulletpurple: glow worm: can be placed (provides light), or used with 2 shine potions to make starlight potion
:bulletpurple: invisible ink: can be equipped in the dye slot (makes accessory invisible, not player), or used with 2 invisibility potions to make stealth potion
:bulletpurple: doubloons: can be placed (doesn't do anything) or can be used with 2 spelunker potions to make treasure hunter potion
:bulletpurple: owl feather: only used with 2 night owl potions to make nightvision potion
:bulletpurple: falcon talon: can be used with 20 souls of flight to make falcon wings, or can be used with 2 swiftness potions to make falcon potions

<summoning items>
:bulletred: mechanical spine: summons the Cthulhu Cortex. made from 5 iron/lead bars, 6 souls of night, and 6 vertebrae. only usable at night, but can be used anywhere. this would eliminate the mechanical worm recipe that uses vertebrae
:bulletred: mechanical doll: summons the Iron Curtain. has to be used like a regular summoning item, throwing it into lava doesn't do anything (yellow tier item). used in the underworld post-Plantera, cannot be summoned until Plantera is defeated. made from 5 iron/lead bars, 6 souls of night, guide voodoo doll, and 10 hellstone bars.

<other materials>
:bulletorange: scorpion claw: used to craft scorpion sword. 1 scorpion claw, 1 gold/platinum sword -> 1 scorpion sword. crafted at iron/lead anvil
:bulletorange: reptile teeth: used to craft bone arrows. 5 arrows, 1 bone, 1 reptile tooth -> 5 bone arrows. crafted at mythril/orichalum anvil
:bulletorange: raptor sickle: used to craft Fossil Broadsword. 1 scorpion sword, 3 raptor claws, 15 chlorophyte bars -> 1 Fossil Broadsword. crafted at mythril/orichalum anvil
:bulletorange: strange cog: used to craft mysterious device. 1 strange cog, 1 of each summoning item in the game (suspicious looking eye, worm food, bloody spine, abeemination, clothier voodoo doll, guide voodoo doll, mechanical eye, mechanical worm, mechanical spine, mechanical skull, and lihzahrd power cell), 1 temple key (because Plantera bulbs cannot be collected), 30 demonite bars, and 30 crimtane bars (this requires having both a crimson world AND a corruption world) you do NOT need a slime crown, pumpkin moon medallion, or naughty present, as the king slime is a mini boss, not a true boss, and the pumpkin and frost moons are events
:bulletorange: broken staff fragments: equivalent of broken hero's sword, only instead are used for crafting the True Staff of Darkness, True Rainbow Rod, and then the Chaos Staff. same drop rate as broken hero swords, and drop from the same enemies. they do not replace the broken hero sword as a drop, so one can easily farm 1-3 of each (BHS, BSF, OGP) during a good Solar Eclipse run
:bulletorange: old gun parts: equivalent of broken hero sword and broken staff fragments but for ranged weapons. used to craft True Gunbow, True Hallowed Repeater, and then the Multi Function Bowgun. they do not replace the broken hero sword as a drop, so one can easily farm 1-3 of each (BHS, BSF, OGP) during a good Solar Eclipse run
:bulletorange: mechanical core: drops from either the True Destroyer or the True Cthulhu Cortex, used with 20 souls of flight and 10 souls of twilight to make the mechanical wings
:bulletorange: mechanical armor shards: drops from either the True Destroyer or the True Cthulhu Cortex (15-30), smelted in an adamantite/titanium forge into mechanical armor bars (five per bar)
:bulletorange: mechanical armor bar: used to make gold tier armor, see below

:bulletyellow: first aid: accessory, made by combining antivenom and fireproof bandaging at tinkerer’s workshop. combines the effects of the two

:bulletyellow: golden mittens: accessory, made by combining golden fleece and hand warmers at tinkerer's workshop. combines the effects of the two
